INTERNAL PROJECTS

Projects and Repairs

A project is rarely too small or too grand for me — I just love to see the finished product. My dedication is providing the highest quality work. This is reflected by my passion and success in making a positive difference in my clients’ lives. Check out some of my recent successes and get inspiration for your next project.

HANGING TV  ON A BRACKET

This is a straight forward task with most TV`s but you need to ensure you use the right fastening (Brick/Drywall fastenings), ensure your bracket can support the weight of the TV and locating the stud (if you have them).

SIMPLE SHELVING

These new modern shelves were  put up to give the downstairs bathroom some fresh life and a more modern feel.

SPICE SHELF & TOWEL RAIL INSTALLED

The client had just moved to a new home and wanted spice rack shelving put up, pictures and towel rails fitted to the walls. After careful planning the biggest challenge was making sure everything was level. This has added both function and style, making this kitchen complete.

HANGING PICTURES AND OTHERS PIECES

Whenever you're hanging objects on a wall, you should always bear in mind the following; weight, size and height & what material your walls are as attaching items may affect the type of brackets you need and at what height to set them as it could affect the end appearance.

VENETIAN BLINDS

This was another rewarding job as not only did they turn out looking great but I managed to save the client almost 50% off his best price in this case. They are not always the easiest to hang as you must get your measurements right and you may need to drill into a window lintel.

FLAT PACKS: WALL HANGING

As with many units in your home some will be fixed on the floor whilst others are to be hung on walls. All these bathroom units including the shower rail needed to be hung on the walls. It  did take a little longer but if you take your time ensuring you get your measurements right before drilling into the wall, then they should all line up neatly next to each other as pictured.

FLAT PACK: DESK UNIT

This is a desk/work unit which was put together for a client who's about to start their own business, however like many of the "Pax" units there can be some complications along the way. This unit had two draw hinges damaged, a circular mount too large to fit and a small crack in the woodwork which all had to be repaired and sorted.

FLAT PACKS: CUPBOARD & DRESSING TABLE

There are several variations on every flat pack, these were from M&S and overall straight forward but its always worth reading the instructions as you don`t want to miss anything key.

FLAT PACK: DOUBLE WARDROBES

A job done correctly!  Previously a set of make shift wardrobes occupied this space which were falling apart have now been replaced with two joining IKEA PAX wardrobes and the left over space boxed in to cover the gaps either side creating a new complete built in wardrobe at a much lower cost but just as good if not better.

FLAT PACK: DOUBLE WARDROBE & SEPARATE SLIDING DOORS

A job which had several changes and challenges along the way as original the units were going to be on the opposite wall, however this change meant the sliding door had to be attached to a slopped ceiling which was overcome with trimming the right angle to create a straight edge. It was a good decision as the room now appears larger and most importantly the customer was really happy with the end result.

SEALANT REPLACEMENT IN THE SHOWER & KITCHEN WORKTOPS

This job was by no means straight forward as there had been several previous attempts to fix the sealant in the shower and kitchen in the past. There was a mixture of decorator chalk with layers of sealant to fix water that was  still seeping through but was unsuccessful. I removed all previous attempts and now both the shower and kitchen are properly sealed using the correct method so this will not continue to happen.

PAINTING A BEDROOM

This bedroom had a interesting green heartbeat line all the way around the room with a single wall painted in light green. To make this room more attractive the walls were all washed down with two high quality coats of Matt white paint so that it can be a nice new canvas for the client and much more appealing.

BOXING IN PIPEWORK

This job was no easy task as the floor and walls were not level by approx. 30mm in places and boxing in needed to be 100mm tall against the skirting board. The goal was to conceal the pipework ahead of new vinyl flooring to be elevated up to the boxing.

HANDMADE VIVARIUM (SNAKE) CAGE

This Job was great as it's not every day you get to build a Vivarium (Snake Cage). Made from an old wardrobe and scrap timber we did this by splitting it into three sections rotating the unit 90 degrees and swapping the hinges around and then insulating, paneling and screwing it all back together. That just leaves us with creating an area for the glass to be fitted once it arrives. It was great to see that the client loves this product. Cant wait to get it completed.

STORAGE UNIT

I needed to make a bespoke storage unit, which I build from a mixer of different type of plywood to provided a nice finish to the unit and will be long lasting.

SUB-FLOOR REPAIR

This chipboard under this floor was damaged and created a safety risk. I was called to repair the damaged chipboard floor which had to be cut back to the joists and a new piece of chipboard fitted. They were happy to have a solid floor with no trip hazards.

SHOWER RAIL & TAPS

A great result as the bathroom went from only having a bath to simply fitting a mixer tap and shower with shower rail and curtain pole, so now there is the luxury of both shower and bath which is essential for any busy household.

BATHROOM & KITCHEN TAPS

When replacing taps its normally a straight forward job, but there can always be a few issues along the way such as access to the stop valve and where you have to drain the system or even getting to the fastening which can be in an awkward place or rusted.

VINYL FLOORING, BATH PANEL AND LEAK REPAIRS

This job had multiple tasks due to a water leak which was still on going when I arrived and there was damage to the ceiling below as well as the bathroom floor. I provided the client with a few options of flooring which we ordered a few days later. Then stopped the leak and put a new stop valve in to prevent more damage, then fitted a new bath panel and taps and finally painted the downstairs ceiling watermarks with a 1-2-3 Primer to prevent the water marks showing through in the future.

RE-GROUTING & SHOWER DOOR.

One of the projects I'm most proud of as it turned out to be a huge success. The biggest challenge was the client just wanted the shower cleaned which I did, however the mould had settled deep into the grout and although clean this the marks where still apparent. We agreed the best solution was to remove the existing grout (Messy job) and re-grout the whole shower, we even ended up replacing the shower door as it was also in poor condition. All this made such a difference.

BOARDING A LOFT

Boarding a loft can prove a good storage solution or even make an extra room with planning permission. Its not the cleanest of jobs and does take some time as you have to tread slowly with only the joists to move around on until the floor is boarded (18mm chipboard in this case) as you can easily damage the ceiling below if your not careful, and you should also always wear a face mask in this environment. It was nice to see how pleasantly surprised the client was as she didn't see it until I had completed the job and she loved it . Check out the end result for yourself!
